City of Glendale opens cooling center for locals still without power

GLENDALE, Mo. - Thousands of people are waking up without power Monday morning across the bi-state because of storms from over the weekend. Now cooling centers are ready to help.People can come out to the City Auditorium at City Hall. You can cool off, get some water, and charge your electronics. This will be open 24 hours until power here is restored.Crews in Hazelwood were seen Sunday working to restore power. Ameren says they have more than a thousand people working around the clock. They also shared that everyone should have power back on by Tuesday at the latest.We've been seeing this a lot this month:Severe storms ripping through neighborhoods, bringing down trees, and power lines. Right now, Ameren crews are still working to restore power to more than 10,000 people in Missouri and Illinois combined. The majority of the outages are in St. Louis County. Crews investigating fatal crash on I-255 WB

COLUMBIA, Ill. - Crews are at the scene of a fatal crash in Columbia, Illinois Monday morning. Our Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX helicopter was flying over the area located on I-255 westbound, where a car rammed into the back of a semitruck. Lanes have since cleared as a tow truck is at the scene. Cardinals trade frenzy begins: Montgomery to Rangers, Hicks to Blue Jays No word on the cause of the crash or the identity of the driver. LOUIS - One of the two smelly corpse flowers has bloomed at the Missouri Botanical Garden.The garden opened for free viewing and smelling from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. They'll be open for regular hours again Monday, but corpse flowers only bloom for about 24 hours. The money is coming from President Joe Biden's bipartisan infrastructure law.  U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will be in the metro east later Monday. He will join U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski at a MetroLink management facility in East St. Louis.
